Suesey Street is a unique restaurant gracing the Georgian Mile in Dublin. It caters to corporate clientele and leisure guests, offering a stylish bar, private booths, a beautiful heated outdoor terrace and a delightful dining experience for everyone who steps through its doors.

The contemporary Irish restaurant is led by General Manager John Healy, who’s been in charge of operations for eight years and counting. A well-known face in the Dublin hospitality scene, John appeared on RTE’s The Restaurant and was central to the success of Four Seasons in Ballsbridge during his tenure from 2001 to 2007.

John was introduced to OpenTable at the Four Seasons, and it was love at first sight. He knew it would instantly elevate the experience for guests and staff at Suesey Street. “The first thing I did when I came in here was put OpenTable in because there’s nothing worse for a manager than having the phone ringing incessantly.” Armed with the restaurant reservation software, John transformed the booking system at Suesey Street.

OpenTable: A manager’s best friend and a diner’s delight

John loves OpenTable as both a restaurateur and a diner. “You can make a reservation when you’re at home in bed,” he says, speaking of the many times he’s used the restaurant management software from the other side of the equation. Not having to get up and make a phone call is undeniably convenient for diners. However, the benefits of the table management system are even more significant in the restaurant.

OpenTable has been transformative for Suesey Street’s staff and clientele. “People don’t even need to ring the restaurant – they can do it themselves through OpenTable. So from a customer point of view, it’s much easier. It’s all lined out in front of you. The plan of the restaurant is on the platform. So they can see the table numbers, and they can see where the tables are.”

“I find that it’s easy to use; it’s restaurant friendly and it’s also customer friendly.”

Streamlining dining, one reservation at a time

OpenTable runs seamlessly on phones, laptops, tablets and other devices. But what happens when an iPad breaks down, or something goes awry when John isn’t on shift? “We all have OpenTable on our phones,” John explains, “so I can sit at home and watch what’s going on at the restaurant through OpenTable.”

John also loves the fact that he can personalise the dining experience for regulars and special guests – a vital feature for many restaurants. Discussing his time at the Four Seasons, John says, “I would put in the profile of each regular guest who came into the restaurant, and at that time, we had a very high-end, affluent clientele base who needed to be remembered. I needed the staff to know who they were. And I just find that it’s easy to use – it’s user-friendly, but it’s also restaurant-friendly and customer-friendly.”

John now considers himself a fan and an advocate of OpenTable’s restaurant management software. “I’m actually trying to get one of my friends in town to go with the platform… It’s smoother, it’s sleeker, it’s professional. You have that marketing tool there…

“… I think OpenTable is the epitome of the IT reservation system and the easiest to use around.
